The Night Nation Run was the first running music festival in the world. What’s that? A running event that is embedded within the context of the Dance Festival and all its shebang, for example. lasers, music, etc. Live music, lasers and lights are all part of a musical journey that is framed in the context of Dance Music. The ultimate goal is to get to the finish. This can be achieved by walking, dancing, crawling or skipping your way along a parkour course.
This sporty/dance hybrid event has taken the group on a world tour and expanded its operations into Asia. It was the first time they had participated in such a hybrid. The registration fee includes a race package that contains the standard running essentials, as well as everything needed to be an illuminated beacon. glowsticks, etc. Warm-up occurs in the form a pre party, where a crowd cheers on the participants. As waves start in staggered order from the starting line, again marked by a DJ, there are a variety of zones for partying that include live DJ’s with dancers, light shows, activations and selfie-stations. It’s not a race if all you care about is running and setting a personal best in 5km distances.
Sydney’s “after party” was held at a nearby club. Participants were encouraged, in addition to wearing running gear during the event, to carry on with the spirit and the theme of the night. Sydney’s Domain was the perfect location for Night Nation Run to make its debut in Australia. Judging by the enthusiasm shown by participants, it will not be the last. Night Nation Run chose Stand Up To Cancer to be their charity, an initiative created to accelerate cancer research. So, not only are the shenanigans fun, but they also help a great cause.
The event introduced runners with the VIVRA pouch. A more sophisticated alternative than a bumbag, it is ideal for carrying only the essentials when a bag wouldn’t be practical. You can carry your money, credit cards, keys and phone in the VIVRA magnetic pouch. VIVRA is easily attached to the waistbands of activewear and leisure clothing, without a need for a belt. The VIVRA is made of a water-resistant fabric that has four powerful magnets, reflective strips, and a durable zip. Ultra-lightweight, this slimline accessory can be worn to the side, front or back of any active gear.
